Description
The Lenovo IBM TS2900 Tape Autoloader 6171S9R is a compact 1U automated tape backup solution designed for businesses that need reliable, high-capacity data protection and archival storage without consuming significant rack space.
This configuration includes a single IBM LTO Ultrium 9 half-high SAS tape drive and a removable nine-cartridge magazine with an integrated I/O station. Using LTO 9 media, the TS2900 supports up to 162 TB of native storage capacity and up to 405 TB compressed across nine cartridges, making it suitable for backup, disaster recovery, long-term retention, and automated storage workflows.
A 12 Gbps SAS interface delivers native transfer rates of up to 300 MB/s, while the integrated barcode reader supports both sequential and random-access operation. Remote administration is available through a web-based management interface, with SNMP and email notifications for streamlined monitoring.
The TS2900 also supports LTO encryption capabilities, media partitioning, self-describing tape, and compatibility with a wide range of enterprise backup applications. Its compact design allows installation either in a standard 1U rack or as a standalone deskside system when used with the appropriate installation kit.
